Digital Learning Lab

PowerSchool is the leading provider of cloud-based software for K-12 education in North America. Its mission is to power the education ecosystem with unified technology that helps educators and students realize their full potential, in their way. I am currently a fully remote design lead specializing in web and digital design on the Marketing team.

About this project: 

PowerSchool establishes itself as a subject matter expert through the resources it publishes—including blog posts, case studies, ebooks, whitepapers, infographics, and webinars. PowerSchool has built up an extensive resources library. To add value and increase the life of existing assets, I collaborated on and created the Digital Learning Lab interactive experience with one of the copywriters on my team. My role included research, wireframing, and UX/UI design. 

Problem: 

PowerSchool has a lot of valuable resources and content, but it's not utilized as much as it could be.

Goal:

The goal of this project was to find a way to repurpose and repackage existing content instead of spending time and resources to create new content. 

Findings:

• The search functionality of the company site is not ideal and the Resources section of the site is organized and filterable by content type, rather than topic. This makes it challenging to find content on a particular subject.

• Many of the assets in the Resources section of the website are gated. Entering information multiple times is a pain point for users.

• There is no clear path or order for the consumption of assets.

Solution:

• The Digital Learning Lab packages content by subject matter in a single-gated masterclass-esque experience with instant access to assets and a clear path for content consumption. Individualized tracking of assets that the user has consumed provides the user with a more personalized feel. 

• The completed pages for the inaugural Digital Learning Lab project are being used as the template for Learning Labs on other topics. The template is built to dynamically pull in graphics for each asset eliminating the need for any additional design work on future versions.
